BUYER’S GUIDEJACK-FOOT FITMENTCAMPSITE SUPPORT

The words stabilizer pad, leveling pad and jack block are often used interchangeably even though the hardware is not. A lightweight pad under a scissor stabilizer is a different job from a permanent pad on a hydraulic landing foot. This guide compares four documented solutions and focuses on correct dimensions, safe support and setup rather than invented durability rankings.

04 Seven checks before setup

Never lift a trailer with stabilizer-only jacks or use pads beyond their intended application.

  1. Measure the actual jack foot: Round and square jack feet require different permanent SnapPads. Measure the foot, not the RV brand or jack-leg tube.
  2. Know whether the jack stabilizes or levels: Scissor stabilizers are generally not intended to lift the RV. Automatic leveling jacks have different pad and load requirements.
  3. Match the pad to the surface: Soft soil and gravel need adequate contact area; asphalt, gravel and concrete may need different protection and traction.
  4. Check load rating and intended application: Never infer hydraulic-jack compatibility from a generic plastic pad. Follow the pad maker and jack maker requirements.
  5. Inspect clearance and travel position: Permanent pads add thickness below the jack foot. Confirm they will not strike the road or interfere with full retraction.
  6. Position removable pads squarely: Keep pads centered and level under the jack foot, without unstable stacks or unsupported edges.
  7. Use chocks and follow setup order: Chock wheels and level according to RV instructions before stabilizing. Pads do not stop the RV from rolling.

05 Choose for your jack and surface

Manual travel-trailer stabilizers: use removable Camco pads where the jack application and soil conditions fit. They can be repositioned or stored between trips.

9-inch round LCI landing feet: SnapPad XTRA is a permanent option that increases the footprint; verify the actual jack-foot shape before ordering.

5¾–6-inch square stabilizer feet: SnapPad XTRA Square 6 is the size-specific permanent option. Smaller square feet need a different variant.

Extra jack reach: Andersen jack blocks reduce extension distance, but the manufacturer limits stacking to two.

Automatic leveling hardware: see RV leveling systems for the jacks themselves; this article covers the contact pads and support blocks.

06 Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between leveling blocks and stabilizer pads?

Leveling blocks can raise wheels or support jacks; stabilizer pads primarily spread the contact area under a jack foot. Neither makes an improperly rated jack safe for lifting.

Can Camco 44595 pads go under hydraulic leveling jacks?

Camco lists the standard 44595 pads for stabilizer-type applications and explicitly excludes hydraulic jacks.

How do I choose the correct SnapPad size?

Measure the actual jack-foot diameter or square side length, check shape and model, and use the SnapPad compatibility guide before ordering.

Do permanent SnapPads add ground clearance?

They add material below the jack foot; the XTRA series adds about one inch of thickness. Verify clearance with jacks fully retracted.

Can I stack Andersen jack blocks?

Andersen permits stacking no more than two of its compatible blocks; follow the specific product instructions and supported jack application.

Do stabilizer pads stop an RV from rocking?

They can reduce sinking and improve footing, but frame movement also depends on jack design, wheel chocks, suspension and campsite surface.

07 Fit the jack before the pad

A stabilizer pad works only when its dimensions, material and intended jack application match the RV. Camco suits compatible removable stabilizer applications, SnapPad is a fit-specific permanent solution, and Andersen offers supported height. Measure the feet, check ground clearance and follow the jack manufacturer’s setup instructions.
